MEGADETH Mainman Checks In From Australia
November 11, 2007MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update from the road in Australia:
"I wanted to tell you about my experience in Perth, Australia and the concert.
"I loved the fans, I liked the show, and I hated the security.
"But if you take away the fact that the security let guys up on stage (one of which is in the infamous 'Dave grabs fan' video at YouTube; thanks for that),that the security guard that was assigned to 'shadow' me was quite visible, and that the guys in the pit were seemingly fanboys and stood facing me, instead of keeping the fans from landing on their backs in the pit, then we had a great show.
"Oh, yes, there was the security fighting over my picks, and then standing on the stage at the end of our encore, but I guess if you willingly work at a 'disco' as a security guard, then you would be questionable at best for being at a metal show anyway, right?
"Now, we did have fun and we have posted a small audio clip of Cristina and MEGS doing 'A Tout le Monde', and we hope to invite some of our fan club members to help us film some stuff at the Sydney show for an unofficial live clip of the show and the single live.
"Cristina was fabulous and we played great and I look forward to going back to Perth, if not just to play for you lovely Western Australian fans, but to also see if the security gets any better next time. I hope so, you deserve better than to have your entertainment defending himself and trying to play at the same time.
"We are heading to the venue now to play our show in Adelaide, and the funny thing is that someone told me that Stephen King moved here to get over writer's block and left after six months saying something like, 'this is the scariest place I have ever been.' That says a lot coming from him.
"And remember, Droogs, that we had a curfew for that show, and due to technical difficulties, we as the last band suffered the consequences because there was nowhere to go when we ran out of time. Our scheduled time is 75 minutes, and trust me, we will make the best use of those 75 precious minutes.
"The shows in Sydney will have different set-lists, and the rest of the shows will be somewhat similar due to the fact that there are more people there that are only going to see one show, than the fortunate few who can see more, and the 'whiners' amongst those fortunate few who bellyache about the songs not changing.
"I hope that everyone has a great time and thank you all for being a part of Gigantour.2007.OZ."
